Four held with unaccounted cash in Manipur’s Kamjong

ARMS, AMMUNITION AND FIVE UG CADRES NABBED IN SEPARATE OPERATIONS

Security forces in Manipur’s Kamjong district apprehended four individuals, including a woman, with unaccounted cash amounting to Rs. 57,77,700 during a routine check at Phaikoh Outpost (MVCP) under Chassad police station on November 28.
According to police sources, the arrested persons were identified as Nengneihoi Khongsai (24) of Seijang, Mangminthang Haokip (29) of C Asian village, Mangjoithang Haokip (27) of Seijang village, all from Senapati district, and Lempu Khongsai (39) of Nengboi village in Kangpokpi district. The four were travelling in a white car when intercepted, and the cash is suspected to be linked to insurgent groups. Further investigation is underway to ascertain its origin and purpose.
Meanwhile, in ongoing search and area domination operations across vulnerable districts, security forces recovered a cache of arms and ammunition from the foothill areas adjoining Mongbung and Seijang village under Jiribam police station. The seized items included three DBBL guns, one country-made .32 pistol with magazine, two hand grenades, and 118 rounds of ammunition of various calibers, police said.
In separate operations across valley districts, five cadres belonging to different underground outfits were also arrested. Among them were two active members of the RPF/PLA: Waikhom Oken Meitei (43) of Ingourok Mamang Leikai, Thoubal district, nabbed on November 28 under Nongpok Sekmai police station.
Ngangbam Robinson Singh alias Booster (28) of Kangla Sangomsang, arrested from Kangla Siphai under Lamlai police station, Imphal East.
On November 30, security forces arrested Potsangbam Niranjan Singh alias Chaobi (29), an active extortionist of PREPAK (PRO), from his residence at Khagempalli Panthak under Imphal police station, Imphal West. Police alleged he was involved in extortion activities targeting doctors, hospitals, school van associations, schools, bakery shops, gym centres, and the public.
The same day, an active cadre of KCP (PWG), identified as Maibam Brojen Meitei (51) of Nungbrang Makha Leikai, Thoubal district, was arrested from Ngamukhong near Litan Thongkhong under Nongpok Sekmai police station. Another cadre of the KCP (Taibanganba) faction, Kiyam Hemanta Singh alias Nanao (36) of Ithai Wapokpi Mayai Leikai, Bishnupur district, was arrested from Wangkhei Ayangpalli Road under Porompat police station, Imphal East.
Police said investigations are ongoing into the arrests and seizures, which form part of intensified counter-insurgency operations across the state.
