In a tragic incident, four houses belonging to shopkeepers in Kiphire were gutted by fire at around 9:15 am on December 16. However, owing to timely arrival of fire engines and with the intervention of police, AR, IR and administration, the fire was put out within an hour before it spread to nearby houses. The fire was suspected to have been caused by an electrical short-circuit.
As per the police report, property worth more than three lakhs were destroyed by the fire. Two persons sustained minor injuries and were administrated first aid at District Hospital Kiphire.
Kiphire district administration has promised immediate relief for the victims.
Meanwhile, chairman of Chamber of Commerce and Industries Kiphire (CCIK), Litingse Sangtam acknowledged the Fire department, Police, district Administration, AR, IR and well-wishers for their timely intervention and helping douse the fire.
