Four persons, including three minors, died and three injured seriously after a dumper truck lost control and capsized at Thadrang village in Meghalaya’s Ri-Bhoi district, police said on Saturday.
The accident occurred on Friday evening when mini dumper truck bearing registration number ML05-AC-8447 was proceeding towards Bhoirymbong from Jowai, the district headquarters of West Jaintia Hills, Vivekanand Singh Rathore, the district police chief of Ri-Bhoi said.
“The vehicle capsized after the accident-causing serious injuries to both driver and helper. Three persons died on the spot and one more injured person expired this morning. Another person is seriously injured,” he informed.
The deceased have been identified as Phibanpyntngen Rynjah (13), Lashimti Nongrum (13), Theresa Nongrum (19), and Ridahunlang Nongrum (13).
The injured have been identified as Iupharisa Nongrum (11), the driver Ferlindes Rymbai (34), and the helper Dwayne Dkhar (31).
He said the injured person has been referred to another hospital from Bhoirymbong Community Health Centre.
Rathore said a case has been registered, while the bodies have been handed over to the family members. “The vehicle has been seized and all the legal formalities have been completed,” he added.
