Four OGWs Arrested in Srinagar Anti-Terror Operation

Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested four overground workers (OGWs) in Srinagar’s Hazratbal area on Wednesday evening for allegedly providing logistical support to terrorists. The arrested individuals – Zahoor Ahmad Mir, Bashir Ahmad Bhat, Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, and Shazia Mohammad – were found in possession of a hand grenade, AK-47 ammunition, mobile phones, and cash. A case has been registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and Arms Act, with further investigation underway.

Officials said the arrests are part of intensified anti-terror operations across the Union Territory, aimed at dismantling the entire support system of terrorism, including OGWs, sympathisers, and those involved in drug smuggling and hawala networks. Security forces continue to target infiltration attempts along the Line of Control and International Border, where drones are increasingly used to drop arms, ammunition, and cash. Police stressed that breaking the OGW network is critical to weakening terror outfits operating in the region.
