Fourth phase of five-day training for elementary teachers on National Initiative for School Heads and Teachers Holistic Advancement (NISHTHA) commenced on March 16 in various districts of the state.
Pughoboto: NISHTHA training was held Pughoboto sub-division under Zunheboto district at GHS Pughoboto after a short inaugural function at Pughoboto town hall Monday.
Addressing the teacher trainees, Y. Vikheho Swu, MLA opined that it was high time that Nagaland developed and Nagas grew up to the level of others. The catalyst for this to happen should be the department of Education as it was concerned with shaping the minds of the younger generation, Swu added. Expressing gratitude to the state Samagra Shiksha officials present at the function and DC Zunheboto for bringing the training programme to Pughoboto, Swu urged the area teachers to make the best use of the training.
Nagaland Samagra Shiksha joint mission director Dr. Kevizakie Rio said teachers were storehouses of knowledge, and therefore, missionaries of knowledge. Nagaland Samagra Shiksha assistant mission director Kelhikha Kenye, who enlightened the teacher trainees on NISHTHA, informed that the state had a target to train 16,872 elementary teachers including head teachers in 5 phases. In the last 3 phases already completed, 10,627 teachers had already been trained while in the present fourth phase, 4,330 teachers were expected to complete the training programme. Kenye also informed that of the around 1,700 teachers who were absent in the first 3 phases, action would be initiated against them according to the genuineness of specific cases.
Pughoboto Town Baptist Church pastor Ahovi Swu said the invocation, SDEO Pughoboto Yhunyule Kent delivered closing remarks, and state resource person (SRP) Terence Yanthan announced the schedule for the training programme at the short function chaired by EBRC Pughoboto coordinator Vihoto N. Sheqi. Asukiqa area teachers also presented a special number titled “great caravan”.
The fourth phase NISHTHA at Pughoboto, which would conclude on March 20, is being conducted with resource persons from DMA Wokha and includes SRP Terence Yanthan (school leadership), key resource persons (KRPs) Amentoli (Education), Imkongkumzak Jamir (Maths), Thungabeni Tungoe (Science), T. Ezanthung Lotha (English), and Rhanthungo Kikon (EVS/SS).
Kiphire: In Kiphire programme was held at Government Higher Secondary School Kiphire on Monday. At the short inaugural programme, district education officer Kiphire, Deenabandhu Panda said that government of India has introduced nationwide training for the teachers in order to facelift and improve the standard of government schools in the country. He therefore asked the teachers to be more sincere in the training so as to disseminate accurate knowledge to the students with this training. He also warned that strong actions would be initiated against irregular teachers if found. DEO also highlighted some awareness points on the dreaded Novel Coronavirus and asked the teachers to give proper awareness in their respective schools.
Keynote address was delivered by key resource person, Lirila Sangtam. She explained in brief about the mode of training and highlighted on the objectives of NISHTHA training. She also declared that out of 17000 teachers undergoing training in the state, Kiphire has 774 teachers training under NISHTHA. Inaugural programme was chaired by IE-coordinator Kiphire, Caroline Sangtam.
Mokokchung: In Mokokchung, training was held at Mayangnokcha Government Higher Secondary School (MGHSS) auditorium with senior SDEO, Mokokchung, Satemkala as the special guest. While addressing the teacher trainees, Satemkala stated that teachers of world should feel proud to be shouldering the future generation. She said that the teachers of today are the kingmakers and moulders of leaders of tomorrow and therefore urged them to consider the school as their mission field. She reminded that for teaching, updates, learning should be a continuous process for the teachers. Key note address was delivered by state resource person, Wati Walling and the function was chaired by Bendanglila.
DNKGHSS Seikhazou Kohima: At Dr. Neilhouzhou Kire Government Higher Secondary School (DNKGHSS) Seikhazou Kohima, principal of the school Dr. Bijano Murry briefed on various pedagogies such as languages, mathematics, science, social science, social-personal qualities and POCSO Act and motivational talk to be transacted in the training.
A press release from media desk by Thongsenlo, assistant district coordinator & Francis TOT stated that, Dr. Bijano urged the teacher trainees to be interactive. Resource persons in group 1 were Emillo Patton (state resource person), deputy director School Education, key resource persons (KRPs) Dr. Sukanya Paul (reader SCERT for Mathematics), Peleno Peteneilhou (PGT English), Yawao Konyak (research assistant SCERT for Science), Medemmongla Jamir (research associate SCERT), Peter Phewhuo (reader SCERT, Science) and Grace Yanthan (PGT Social Science). Group 2 comprised of Dr. Bijano Murray, principal DNKGHSS (state resource person) and key resource persons Aneile Much (DIET lecturer for Education), Kenilo Semp (Sr. DIET lecturer for Maths), Neikulu Curhah (training resource assistant, SCERT), Sonian Jempang (training resource assistant, SCERT) and Vilakhole Naki (research associate, Science). Coordinators of five educational block resource centres namely EBRC Sechii Zubza, EBRC Viswema, EBRC L.Khel Kohima, EBRC Chiepobhozou and EBRC Tseminyu are part of the training as observers along with trainer of teachers (TOTs) supervising and monitoring in sync with district mission authority (DMA), Samagra Shiksha Kohima. Four hundred thirty teachers are attending the NISHTHA training.
