
The launching programme of PMGKAY-III was held at FSD-FCI Dimapur on the May 5, led by director of food & civil supplies (F&CS), Asangal Imti and accompanied by officers and staff of F&CS in the presence of general manager and other officers of Food corporation of India (FCI).
A press release by the department stated that the PMGKAY-III was a pro-poor initiative announced by the government of India to ameliorate the hardships faced by the poor due to economic disruption caused by COVID-19.
The release stated that an additional allocation of food grains for distribution to all the beneficiaries under National Food Security Act-NFSA (AAY and PHH) at 5 kg per person per month would be free of cost for a period of two months (May and June).
It may be mentioned that the government of India would bear the entire cost on account of such distribution including food subsidy, intra-state transportation and dealer’s margin/additional dealers margin without any sharing by states/UTs.
