A free health camp for senior citizens, 60 years and above, was organised by Baptist Church Chiechama, in collaboration with Putuonuo Hospital Kohima at Chiechama Village, Sunday.
A press release by Putuonuo Hospital Kohima informed that under the banner of Health Outreach Programme and Education (HOPE) initiative of Putuonuo Hospital, seven doctors along with 10 nurses, paramedical staff and volunteers participated in the camp.
The hospital said more than 100 people availed the free health check-up, 70% of whom were above 70 years, the oldest being 95 years of age. The health camp offered basic diagnostic tests, like a blood check for diabetes, blood pressure check and 2D echocardiography for heart disease, ultrasound examination, with free medicines including injections and minor procedures. The hospital said the HOPE initiative aims to reach out to the vulnerable population groups such as the elderly, where accessing healthcare remains a challenge.
