Free medical camp held at LBC Wokha

DIMAPUR: A free medical camp and awareness programme was organised by Longsa Baptist Church (LBC), in collaboration with the Medical Department Wokha, at the LBC premises on August 22.
According to a press release from the CMO Office Wokha, Dr. Thungchangbemo Ezung, CMO Wokha, delivered a health talk citing the World Health Organisation’s definition of health as “a state of complete physical, mental and social well being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.” He encouraged participants to practice regular exercise for physical and mental well being, and emphasised that a nutritious, balanced diet can help prevent diseases.
Dr. Ezung stressed the importance of regular medical check ups, noting that diseases such as cancer can be treated effectively in their early stages.
He also highlighted the need to prioritise mental health through creative activities and healthy interpersonal relationships. On early intervention, he said non communicable diseases such as hypertension, stroke and diabetes could be prevented with timely treatment.
He further urged participants to avoid harmful substances such as tobacco and alcohol to maintain good health.
The release informed that Patrick W. Tungoe, DRP NUN LWS, DAPCU Wokha, conducted an awareness session on HIV and AIDS as part of the Intensified Information, Education and Communication campaign.
Health services provided during the camp included medical check ups, blood sugar tests, HIV testing, blood pressure monitoring, CMHIS card generation, chest X ray, sputum collection and distribution of free medicines. More than 200 beneficiaries availed the services.
