KOHIMA, JUN 16 (NPN): A three day polyclinic offering free consultation and treatment by specialist doctors commenced Tuesday at the Urban Public Health Centre (UPHC), Seikhazou, under the Health Grants component of the 15th Finance Commission 2021–22.
Speaking to media persons, Medical Officer Dr. Bilva Yalie said the polyclinic would cater to a large number of patients throughout the month, providing specialist healthcare services closer to the community. She emphasised the importance of public awareness about the regular monthly services available at the centre, noting that the initiative was primarily aimed at assisting patients unable to travel to Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) for consultations.
Dr. Yalie highlighted that specialist services were accessible at UPHC itself, where patient load was comparatively lower than NHAK, and all consultations and treatments under the polyclinic were being provided free of cost.
On the opening day, services were rendered by senior specialist and diabetologist Dr. S. Neiphrezo of NHAK and gynaecologist Dr. Neiketouzo Kulnu of NHAK. She further informed that specialists in ENT, dermatology and paediatrics would be available on June 17, while a medicine specialist would attend patients on June 18.
Expressing hope, Dr. Yalie said the polyclinic would enable more people to avail specialist healthcare conveniently and without financial burden.
