To encourage children to embrace sports and stay away from drugs, the Shamator District Table Tennis Association (SDTTA), in collaboration with the District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW), Shamator and Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan, organized a free two-day Summer Table Tennis Coaching Camp for children aged 18 and below.
A press release by the SDTTA stated that the camp held with the theme ‘Say No to Drugs, Say Yes to Sports,’ aims to introduce and promote table tennis and sports culture in Shamator district while addressing the growing concern of drug use among youngsters by engaging them in healthy and disciplined activities.
The camp saw active participation from about 60 children, reflecting the interest and enthusiasm of the youth in the district to learn and engage in sports.
On the first day of the camp, free table tennis kits were distributed to all participants to motivate and enable them to continue practising the sport beyond the camp.
The organisers hope that such initiatives will create awareness among the youth and the community on the importance of sports in shaping a positive lifestyle, while also combating drug-related issues in the district.
The coaching camp kicked off on July 1 and concluded on July 2.
