French ambassador visits Sikkim’s Mangan

French Ambassador Thierry Mathou on Saturday visited sites of cultural and historical significance in the Kabi subdivision of Sikkim’s Mangan district.
Mathou, accompanied by his spouse Cecile, interacted with local officials and residents, exploring avenues for cooperation, a statement said.
The dignitaries toured several monasteries in the region, experiencing Sikkim’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage, it said.
They also visited the historic ruins of the royal palace at Tumlong and the renowned site of the Blood Brotherhood Treaty at Kabi Lungchok, it added.
The visit marks a step towards strengthening India-France ties, particularly in areas of cultural exchange and partnership, officials said.
The ambassador is on a five-day visit to the Himalayan state, which will conclude on Sunday.
