Itanagar, Jul 21 (PTI): Fresh floods triggered by incessant rain hit five districts of Arunachal Pradesh in the last 24 hours, even as the ongoing monsoon has affected nearly 1.49 lakh people across the state, officials said on Tuesday.
According to the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), fresh flood and other rain-related incidents were reported from Siang, Papum Pare, West Kameng, Kamle and Lower Siang districts, affecting six administrative circles.
Flash floods inundated Kallek village in Kebang circle of Siang district.
In Papum Pare, heavy rain affected Balijan and Tarasso villages in Balijan and Tarasso circles, while Lish village in Dirang circle of West Kameng, Yada village in Raga circle of Kamle, and Jipu village in Likabali circle of Lower Siang also reported rain-related damage.
The ongoing spell of floods and landslides has so far claimed seven lives, injured 29 people and left two others missing, while affecting 1,49,392 people across the state, the SEOC said.
The monsoon has impacted 594 villages in 343 circles in all 27 districts of the state so far.
Upper Siang is the worst-affected district with 49,523 people impacted, followed by East Siang (around 35,500), Siang (25,365), Kra Daadi (13,731) and Upper Subansiri (13,017).
The monsoon has caused widespread damage to public infrastructure, including 198 roads, 38 bridges, 30 culverts, 156 power lines, 63 government buildings and 24 schools, as per the SEOC.
The disaster has also damaged 631 kutcha houses, 127 pucca houses, 53 huts and 24 other residential structures. Besides, 260 poultry birds, 663 small animals and eight large animals have perished.
The SEOC said 733.66 hectares of crop area, including 419 hectares of horticulture plantations and 314.66 hectares of agricultural land, have been damaged, while around 1,010 hectares of forest area have also been affected.
