FSA conducts special drive on fruits and vegetables

In response to the increasing demand for fruits and vegetables in markets and their mass production during off-seasons, the Food Safety Authority (FSA), Department of Health & Family Welfare, Nagaland conducted a special drive to assess the quality of these produce.
According to a DIPR report, the initiative covered Mokokchung, Kohima, and Dimapur districts, focusing on commercial distributors supplying to rural areas.
To ensure compliance with safety standards, Food Safety Officers (FSOs) collected survey and enforcement samples for laboratory analysis. The Food Safety on Wheels (FSWs) Team also performed on-spot adulteration tests during inspections conducted on May 1, May 7, and May 8, 2025.
A total of 18 samples were collected and sent to various laboratories for detailed testing, with results currently awaited. Simultaneously, Food Technicians of FSWs carried out 28 on-spot tests to identify possible contamination or adulteration in the produce.
Authorities have assured that if any sample is found non-compliant with food safety regulations, appropriate legal action will be taken against the defaulters.
