Food Safety Authority (FSA), Dimapur, in coordination with District Administration, Niuland, organized an awareness programme for Food Business Operators (FBOs) of Niuland on January 30.
A press release from FSA Dimapur stated that during the programme, designated officer of Food Safety, Samuel Zehol, spoke on Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) Act, 2006, and sensitized FBOs on the importance of correct labeling of food products and recognizing various FSSAI logos.
He also addressed matters related to hygiene and sanitation of food establishments, personnel hygiene, medical fitness of food handlers, and emphasized a paradigm shift towards self-compliance through Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Hygienic Practices (GHP), as well as storage of food articles within purview of FSSAI rules and regulations.
Zehol later urged upon people to come forward for any complains related to food poisoning, misbranded and sub-standard to Food Safety Authority, Dimapur under CMO office, Dimapur.
The release added that the programme concluded with a demonstration by Food Safety on Wheels Technicians, who also conducted spot testing for common food adulterants in dal, milk, honey, vegetables and spices.
