FSSAI initiatives carried out in Mokokchung zone

Various Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) initiatives were carried out by the Food Safety Mokokchung Zone in collaboration with FSSAI empanelled Agency MS Certification Services Pvt. Ltd. Kolkata across Mokokchung, Tuensang and Zunheboto districts on May 21-29.


A press release by the office of Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Mokokchung informed that FSSAI initiatives such as “hygiene rating and high-risk audit” of eateries and food manufacturing units, “eat right school”, “eat right campus”, “eat right place of worship” and “eat right vegetable market” were carried out across the three districts.


During the tour, designated officer (food safety) Mokokchung Zone, C. Merenlemba Ao, asserted that the hygiene rating certificate was valid only for two years and that re-audit of the establishments would be done every two years.


He urged the Food Business Operators (FBOs) to continue to maintain the standards and create their unique identity as responsible food business establishments.


Meanwhile, CMO Mokokchung office stated that these initiatives would allow consumers to make informed choices of the outlets they choose to eat and also encourage food businesses to showcase and improve their food hygiene standards.
