
After a day’s hiatus, the state-owned oil marketing companies (OMCs) hiked the prices of petrol and diesel on Monday pushing the prices of two auto fuel to new historic highs across the country.
According to a price notification of state-owned OMCs, petrol price was hiked by 29 paise per litre and diesel by 30 paise.
With the latest price revision, petrol price in Dimapur breached Rs.95-mark and is now retailing at Rs.95.10 per litre while diesel price increased to Rs.89.39 per litre. In the state capital Kohima, prices of petrol and diesel surged to Rs.96.05 per litre and while diesel price breached Rs.90-mark and is now retailing at Rs.90.15 per litre.
The hike on Monday was the 24th increase in prices since May 4. In 24 increases, petrol price has risen by Rs 6.01 per litre and diesel by Rs 6.55 a litre. Fuel prices differ from state to state depending on the incidence of local taxes.
