GAD indefinite auto strike from Mar 4

Raising the issue of collection of “daily tax from autorickshaws by DDADU”, ‘General Autorickshaw Drivers’ (GAD) has called for an indefinite strike from March 4 till the district administration stop DDADU from collecting daily tax.
GAD members– Nramo Murry and Hokhuvi P. Aye (both auto drivers) questioned Dimapur district administration as to why it was not complying with the High Court order prohibiting Dimapur District Auto Drivers’ Union (DDADU) from tax collection.
They said GAD had not called for the strike keeping in mind of the HSLC and HSSLC examination. However, with the examinations getting over, GAD said they would go ahead for the indefinite strike from March 4.
GAD assured that once district administration stops DDADU from collecting daily tax in all parts of Dimapur, the auto drivers would adhere to the revised auto fares.
While appreciating the district administration on reduction of auto fares, they however said that the administration should also realize that survival of the drivers and their families depend on the earning from auto-rickshaws. They said it would be impossible for the drivers to adhere to reduction of auto fares and at the same time face the daily taxation of DDADU.
