Nagaland governor, La Ganesan inaugurated the 21st Folk Fair-2023 and 14th Krishi Fair at Muktakash Rangamancha, Saradhabali, Puri, Odisha on Tuesday.
A press release by PRO Raj Bhavan informed that Ganesan in his inaugural address said Shree Shrikshetra Soochana has been organizing the fairs with a view to revive India’s indigenous culture which was unique and original.
He said the organization has also been making laudable efforts to bring together on a common platform of the ethnic groups and communities of India.
The governor also said that Odisha has the third highest percentage of tribal population in the country and lauded the non-government, non-profit Voluntary organization like Shree Shrikshetra Soochana for their noble attempt in helping these communities to showcase their talents.
He also said that India has potential in field for agriculture which has also been the chief source of the livelihood, security and agent of social change.
He termed the food security bill which has been waiting for a parliamentary nod as a great step forward to make India completely self- reliant in this sector.
He said that the objective to increase food production will carter to the need of the millions of people, where the poorer and under-privileged sections of the society will feed themselves in more dignified ways as ever imagined before.
The governor also expressed his happiness on the Krishi Fair, which has provided a platform to everyone working in different sectors besides agriculture, animal husbandry, poultry, floriculture, horticulture, etc. He expressed hope that the organization would promote entrepreneurship and growth in all these sectors by coming together and share their knowledge technical know-how for major breakthrough in these areas.
The Folk Fair was organized by Shree Shrikhetra Soochana, Puri, a non-profit, non-government and voluntary service organization, which is committed to the harmonious and balanced development on all fronts of social well-being.
The programme was supported by Ministry of culture, government of India, directorate of Culture Affairs, Assam, Handlooms, Textiles & Handicrafts department, Odia Language Literature and Culture Department of Odisha ,Eastern Zone Culture, Kolkata, NEZCC, Dimapur, and etc. The four-day fair will conclude on June 3.
