In order to maintain a hygienic and healthy environment, a burning site and garbage disposal was inaugurated by chief guest, Botsa Baptist Church Pastor, Rev. Rudilhou Rio, initiated by Dieze Khel Botsa, at Botsa village on Wednesday, some 37 kms away from the state capital under Kohima district. Dustbins were also distributed among all the shops in the area. The burning site is few kilometres away from the village, uniquely made and designed with cement walls and iron bars on the floor for lasting use.
Rev. Rio, in his address, said such an initiative by Dieze Khel was appreciated and other places should should emulate the initiative. Stating that unity is essential to development, he urged the Khel members and villagers to stand together to bring positive changes to the village. Stressing the importance of sanitation, he reminded the gathering that cleanliness is next to Godliness. The Revered appealed business people to cooperate with the village in keeping the town and its area clean for a healthy living environment. He also suggested that the area people remind travellers to not litter.
Secretary Dieze Khel Botsa, Ruokuolhoulie Zumu in his secretarial report, said that the fund for this initiative was raised through wage and manual works. He informed the gathering that the colony people organized sanitation drives every 2nd Saturday. According to Zumu, 15 quick response team members were set up at the colony to oversee the colony affairs including sanitation. While urging the business community to cooperate in maintaining cleanliness in the town, he suggested that action be initiated against defaulters.
Chairman Sishunyu Village Council, Joel Kath, in his address, appealed to the gathering and people of the area to set a good example by keeping the village clean and making it popular for its cleanliness. Chairman Botsa village council Zhahelie Rio also addressed the gathering.
The programme was led by Ruokuobeilie Zumu, the invocation prayer said by Medokrei-ii Sanchu while a vote of thanks was proposed by Neizo Zumu, GB Dieze Khel Botsa.
