
Kohima Bench of Gauhati High Court has disposed off 14,146 cases in a span of 48 years which were from 1973 to October of 2021.
This was displayed at the stall set up by Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA), at the Heritage Village, Kisama.
As part of the Hornbill Festival, NSLSA under the aegis of the National Legal Services Authority is providing free legal services at their stall.
The stall-cum-exhibition was earlier inaugurated by Gauhati High Court, Kohima Bench, Justice Hukato Swu on December 1.
So far this year, from the month of January till October, a total of 558 cases has been filed at the Kohima Bench.
The legal Services Stall caters to distribution of legal literature and booklets written in English, Nagamese and local dialects.
Pamphlets available at the stall includes, basics of law, Constitution of India, POCSO Act, Nagaland Village Council and Tribals Act, Cyber Crime and Security, Lok Adalat, Victim Compensation among others.
Free legal counselling, legal advice, drafting affidavits and petitions, legal aid and representation, mediation etc. are also provided at the stall.
While the exhibition reflects on the history, important landmarks and activities of the Gauhati High Court and Legal Services.
Some rare photos of the court proceedings and senior judges on the chair and group photos are also displayed at the exhibition.
Interested individuals can avail the free services by visiting the stall and meeting with NSLSA members manning the stall.
