GB association of Aghunaqa flays ‘biased’ conduct of 155 Bn CRPF

GB Association of Aghunaqa Area (AKK) under Niuland district has condemned the “biased and arbitrary conduct” of 155 Battalion CRPF posted along sector ‘B’ of Assam-Nagaland border.

In a press release, AKK president Heshito Awomi and general secretary Mughato Zhimo asserted that the primary objective of the central forces was to maintain peace through neutrality and “not to justify arbitrarily issuing of one-sided permits or licenses” in the Disputed Area Belt (DAB).

AKK stated that the two traditional neighbours had the history of occasional tensions and conflicts for decades. It said that the central government knowing the “fragility” of their history decided to deploy the best possible neutral forces hoping that it would truly bring peace and tranquillity along the border area. However, AKK said that the central force did not live up to the expectation of the general public.

AKK has, therefore, urged the responsible authorities to take immediate measures to redress the conduct of the neutral force so peace was resorted among the general masses.
The association emphasised that the neutral force should allow the administration of the two sides to function as before.

Affirming its commitment to seeking a peaceful and just resolution to the border dispute, AKK has urged all parties involved to restraint and respect each other’s rights with dignity.
