DIMAPUR, JUN 9 (NPN): GB Union Dimapur (Sadar) on Tuesday informed that it has revoked the membership of Residency Colony GB Akangkokba Ao from the union with immediate effect following his arrest as the third accused in the alleged sexual assault case involving a minor girl.
In a press release, GBUD (Sadar) president W. Kholie Kapfo and general secretary T. Onen Jamir urged the district administration to revoke his appointment.
The union expressed shock over the incident and said that it was difficult to comprehend how a person entrusted with safeguarding citizens could allegedly be involved in such a serious crime.
The union apprised deputy commissioner Dimapur to revoke his appointment as a gaon bura to facilitate a thorough investigation and ensure appropriate legal action.
The union also appealed to the commissioner of police and other law enforcement agencies to treat the matter with utmost seriousness, expedite the investigation, and bring all those involved in the case to justice under relevant provisions of law.
Expressing solidarity with the minor victim, her family and the affected community, the union assured its full support and cooperation in the pursuit of justice.
At the same time, the union appealed to the public to maintain faith in the legal process and refrain from taking the law into their own hands or disrupting public order while the investigation was underway.
