Gen Loomba new GOC 3 Corps

Lt Gen Rakesh Kumar Loomba Thursday took over as GOC 3 Corps from Lt Gen M S Dadwal, AVSM, VSM, at a solemn ceremony held at Rangapahar, informed a press release issued by PRO Defence.
An alumni of Sainik School Kunjpura and the National Defence Academy, Gen Loomba is a veteran of the 1971 War and proved his mettle and expertise in mountain and tank warfare.
“His vast, indepth knowledge about every facet of operations as envisaged in the sub-continent, made him as one of the most revered instructors in various schools of instruction,” the release said. A multi-linguist, the general is also a keen sportsman.
Gen Loomba’s wife, Anita Loomba, a qualified interior decorator, a keen musician and environmentalist, takes over as the new President, Spear Army Wives’ Welfare Association (AWWA).
It may be mentioned Lt Gen M S Dadwal has been appointed as Deputy Chief of the Army Staff.
