Gender sensitivity training held at Jakhama

A one-day gender sensitivity training for village functionaries and Anganwadi workers was held at the CDPO office, Jakhama, on June 21, 2025.
According to DIPR report, the programme was organised under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) initiative by the Kohima District Administration in collaboration with SANKALP–District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW), Kohima.
The training aimed to promote gender equality and reduce gender-based discrimination at the grassroots level. The programme was chaired by Vikeduozo, Gender Specialist, DHEW Kohima. Sokhrienuo Rupreo, Area Coordinator, NSRLM, RD Block Jakhama, spoke on gender equality and called for equal rights and opportunities for all genders. She encouraged village-level workers to promote inclusive practices in their communities.
CDPO Jakhama, Zubemo Jami, addressed the issue of child marriage and explained its negative impact on the growth and well-being of children. He highlighted the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act 2006 and urged stakeholders to stay alert and prevent such incidents.
The training was aimed at empowering local workers to promote gender-sensitive practices and ensure the welfare of women and children through proper implementation of government schemes.
