Government High School, Longchem, Mokokchung District, celebrated its Golden Jubilee (1968-2018) on November 16 at GHS Longchem. Minister of Higher & Technical Education, Temjen Imna Along Longkumer was the chief guest for the program.
Jubilee Planning Committee secretary, Moameren Imchen, in a press release stated that Temjen Imna commented that when such milestones are achieved, such as the golden jubilee, people need to remember God and ask him for strength, wisdom and knowledge. He encouraged the students to plan for the future & work hard to achieve their goals. Although struggles may seem difficult, Temjen Imna opined that the struggles of today prepare people to face the hardships of tomorrow. “The future generation should not be people who shy away from trouble but they should be fighters” he asserted.
He added that GHS Longchem is “the heartbeat of the emotions of the people of Japukong” because it has produced many able and good leaders.
The program was chaired by N. Watila Longkumer where I. Yapang Imchen, convenor of the Jubilee Planning Committee, proposed a vote of thanks and the program culminated with a mass prayer and a Jubilee Feast.
Earlier, the 50 Golden Jubilee Years celebrations started with the dedication of a Monolith by Sanen, pastor of Nokpu Baptist Church, and unveiling of the Monolith by the special guest.
The invocation was pronounced by Rev. A. Mar, pastor of Lirmen Baptist Church and a welcome address was given by Athrong, EAC & chairman SMC. A speech on behalf of the alumni was given by T. Imkongmar Aier, rtd director, soil and water conservation, short speeches were delivered by the president JSS, president JKM, chairman Nokpu Village Council & chairman Ao Nokpu Village Council. The Jubilee Choir GHS Longchem & Marienla enthralled the audience with songs. Presentations to all the invitees, were given by N. Moameren Imchen, secretary Jubilee Planning Committee. Head master, GHS Longchem, Alem released the Jubilee Souvenir.
