A launching program for Government High School (GHS), Naharbari Dimapur, was held on December 12, at the school premises.
Addressing the gathering as special guest, advisor School Education, Nagaland, K. T. Sukhalu mentioned that he was very appreciative of the village council and colony members of Naharbari for their contribution and for them playing a positive role towards the functioning of schools. He also congratulated the school on being upgraded to a High School.
In his speech, he encouraged and urged teachers to continue teaching with the best they have. He emphasized that there was a very big difference between telling and teaching the students, and mentioned that they should be given the right guidance.
District Education Officer, Dimapur, R. Amongla Jamir also spoke on the occasion where she urged villagers to continue to work for the welfare of students and the school. She stated that without the help and support of the village council, the school would never be able to function smoothly. She urged teachers to come out of their comfort zones and try to mould the students.
Delivering short speeches, Naharbari Village Council, chairperson, Tokheli and Village Development Board, secretary, Hutoka Asumi, pointed out that the present GHS Naharbari building was constructed with the contribution of inhabitants of the village along with funds from the village community fund. The village leaders also stated that construction of a proper drainage system was underway so as to avert inundation of the school building. They also assured the school authority of their assistance for smooth functioning of the school.
The event was chaired by assistant headmaster, N. Thungchio Shitire and invocation was offered by associate pastor, EDADC, Rev. C. Yanger Jamir. The inaugural plaque was unveiled by the special guest and a song was presented by the students. Vote of thanks was delivered by GT, GHS Naharbari, K. Holito Sumi, followed by a mass feast.
