GHSS Chukitong holds sales day to aid needy students

DIMAPUR

Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Chukitong, under Wokha district, organised a Sales Day on July 25 with the objective of raising funds to support hostel fees for financially underprivileged Class 10 students.
The event was a collaborative effort led by the School Development Managing Committee (SDMC), parents, staff, and students. Held within the school premises, the programme featured a range of stalls offering organic produce, traditional pickles, handmade crafts, flowers, poultry, and indigenous delicacies such as edible crickets—highlighting local culinary and cultural heritage.
The community showed strong participation, with students, parents, teachers, and residents contributing generously through purchases. School authorities expressed appreciation for the public’s support, stating that the event fostered unity and collective responsibility.
Beyond fundraising, the programme served as an experiential learning opportunity, equipping students with essential life skills including financial planning, communication, and entrepreneurship. Students actively managed stalls and engaged with customers, gaining hands-on experience.
Parents and visitors commended the school for promoting inclusive education and encouraging student initiative. A volunteer parent remarked that such events nurture values far beyond textbooks.
The event concluded on a promising note, with GHSS Chukitong reaffirming its commitment to exploring more community-driven initiatives in future.
