Girls continue to outdo boys in HSLC and HSSLC exams

HSLC exam 2025 pass percentage: 75.16 %
HSSLC exam 2025 Arts: 84.05 %, Commerce: 81.40 %, Science: 76.54 %

Girls continued to outperform boys in the Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) HSLC and HSSLC examinations 2025 results which were declared on Friday.


Out of 22313 candidates in HSLC, a total of 16771 candidates qualified the examination with a qualified percentage of 75.16 %. The girls did better with 8878 (75.39%) girls qualifying and 7893 (74.90%) boys qualifying the examination. In the Top 20 list, there were 126 candidates out of which 45 were boys and the rest 81 were girls.


In terms of district wise performance for government schools, Kohima district topped the table with a percentage of 70% followed by Mokokchung and Chumoukedima districts at 66% and 59%. Shamator district is at the bottom with 17%. In respect of private schools, Mokokchung district is at the top with a percentage of 93% followed by Kohima and Phek at 92% and 91%.


In HSSLC examination 2025, the girls did better than boys in all three streams: Arts – Girls (87.9%) Boys (79.25%), Commerce- Girls (87.5%) Boys (77.11 %) and Science – Girls (78.25 %) Boys (74.27 %). The overall pass percentage in Arts stream is 84.05 %, Commerce stream is 81.40 % and Science stream is 76.54 %.


It may be mentioned that there were three toppers from Government Higher Secondary Schools in the merit list at the HSSLC Examination 2025 in Arts & Commerce streams from GHSS, Jotsoma and GHSS Sechu in Rank 1st and 8th of Arts stream and 10th Rank in Commerce Stream.


This is the first time that a student from a government school has topped the arts stream.
Meanwhile, NBSE has informed that provision to download Migration Certificate would be made available at the NBSE portal www.nbsenl.edu.in.

However, the board informed that those candidates who desire to avail the hard copy can come to the NBSE office during office hours once they receive their original marksheets.
