Girls students partake in Menstrual Day

In commemoration of World Menstrual Hygiene Day, Mon district organized a programme on June 1 where free sanitary pads were distributed to the students of Government Higher Secondary School Mon ‘C’ and trainees of District Hospital, Mon.
The sanitary pads were distributed by Adolescent Friendly Health Clinic (AFHC), District Hospital, Mon.
At the event, Dr Aman Konyak, Gynecologist DH, Mon gave a scientific definition and understanding on menstruation and the ways to stay clean.
He also explained the normal and abnormalities associated during the period and other menstruation related disorders.
He said it was important part of a women’s life and should have a basic knowledge on it.
He further encouraged the use of sanitary pads and disposal of sanitary pads in a proper way.
Medical officer AFH, Dr Igumpuele, while delivering vote of thanks suggested five important tips for menstrual hygiene:- 1) product- change sanitary pads every 4-6 hours; 2)washing properly 3) wash hands before and after changing pads 4) discard sanitary pads properly and 5) good diet.
Earlier, the event started with an invocation by David Konyak Chaplain DH Mon and the programme was chaired by Kenyuhyule Thong, counsellor, Adolescent Friendly Health Clinic.
