Geology and Mining (G&M) department has notified that it would regulate, control and administer all minor minerals in the state such as sand, gravels, boulders, stone chips, bricks, clay, stand stone, limestone, marble etc listed in schedule-II of the NMMCR, 2004.
In a notification, G&M director, Wanthang Rengma, has requested all stakeholders, quarry operators, brick kiln operators, stone crusher units, stand supplier & stockiest etc to do registration with the directorate of geology and mining and obtain quarry permits, mining lease etc from the department with immediate effect.
G&M director has also directed all licensees, operators, transporters, traders, government registered contractors & suppliers to pay royalty on all minor minerals to the government through the nodal department, directorate of G&M, as per the rate of royalty prescribed in schedule-I of the NMMCR, 2004.
Further, the stakeholder government departments and both central and state agencies involving in civil construction works such as CPWD, Border roads, PWD, power, irrigation, RD etc. and those departments having civil engineering wings have been requested to deduct royalty on sand, boulders, stone chips in all the bills and pay to the revenue head of account of the nodal department, directorate of G&M.
The revenue may be deposited under the revenue head of account – 0853 – Non-ferrous Mines and Metallurgical Industries, payable to the Director, DGM, and furnish a copy of such treasury challan/demand draft to the director, G&M, Dimapur.
