Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) mission director, Thejawelie Gregory Sote inaugurated a school extension building for GMS P. Khel Tholeibozou, Kohima Village on April 4 at P. Khel Kohima village.
Speaking on the occasion, Thejawelie lauded the efforts of the School Management Committee (SMC) and Building Committee for judiciously using the funds allotted and for successfully completing the building.
He spoke on the importance of quality education and to this end, he said, the government’s focus was to build up teacher capacity. He encouraged teachers to undergo the capacity building training so that they may equip themselves with the ability to impart quality education.
He also said that with the development of infrastructure, the teachers should redouble their efforts on the job.
With the introduction of Communitization, village communities have to play a major role in contributing towards school upliftment, he said.
He also stressed on the importance of SMC, teachers, parents, community leaders’ unity and coordination in every programme to produce quality education so that the students may be benefited.
The programme was chaired by chairman, SMC, GMS P. Khel, Kohima Village, Vilakuolie Mere. In his welcome address he said the vision of school was to upgrade the GMS to High School and this was top priority. A construction report was presented by treasurer of the Building Committee, Luo-o Pienyü.
God’s blessing was invoked by Deacon Khedi Baptist Kehou, Kholie Keyho, while the vote of thanks was proposed by PSU advisor & Building Committee convener, Khriedilhoulie Rame.
The programme was attended by the village council, GBs, elders, PSU, SMC and teachers.
