Global Naga Forum (GNF) has strongly condemned the “continued extrajudicial drone strikes” allegedly carried out by the Indian Army targeting civilian populations in the Naga Self-Administered Zone (NSAZ) in Myanmar.
GNF through its media cell said the latest drone attack on Khammaoi village on April 6, 2026, reflected a disturbing pattern of indiscriminate force that endangered innocent lives and violated international humanitarian law and fundamental human rights.
The forum stated that although the recent strike destroyed a thatched house, it fortunately spared the lives of an elderly man and his grandchild who were inside at the time.
However, GNF said the deployment of three drone bombs in and around the village showed a clear intent to inflict harm and instil fear among civilians.
Further, the forum pointed out that the latest incident was an escalation of the devastating drone strike on the same village in October last year, which killed a 27-year-old student and a 7-year-old child, while seriously injuring several others, including a 10-year-old boy.
GNF stated that the recurring pattern of targeting unarmed civilians under the cover of darkness reflected a grave and unacceptable abuse of military power. It described such actions as indefensible and in stark violation of humanitarian principles. The forum has called for an immediate halt to all forms of violence, particularly the indiscriminate use of drone warfare against non-combatants. GNF also reiterated its urgent appeal to the United Nations, relevant international human rights bodies, and the Government of Myanmar to condemn the violations, initiate an independent and time-bound international investigation, ensure full accountability of those responsible and take concrete measures to prevent further attacks on innocent civilians
GNF expressed solidarity with the Naga people in Myanmar, particularly the residents of Khammaoi Village, in their demand for safety, justice, and recognition of traditional authorities in safeguarding civilian lives and ancestral Naga territories.
