Global Naga Forum (GNF) has submitted an independent fact-finding report to the office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) regarding an alleged drone strike on civilians in Khammoi village, located in Naga Self-Administered Zone (NSAZ), Myanmar, on October 20, 2025.
According to the report, a five-member team deputed by GNF documented deaths and injuries resulting from drone-dropped explosives that struck a residential property in the evening hours.
The incident reportedly occurred around 6:40 p.m. at the residence of ‘maj. gen.’ Piyong of the NSCN-K, where family members had gathered. Eyewitnesses stated that multiple explosives were dropped, causing civilian casualties, including children.
Two persons were reported killed: a 27-year-old man and a seven-year-old child who succumbed to injuries while being transported for medical care.
Three others, including a woman and a 10-year-old boy, sustained serious injuries and were treated at Mon District Hospital in Nagaland.
The report also noted that humanitarian assistance from Indian Red Cross in Mon was allegedly prevented from crossing the Longwa border to provide emergency medical aid.
Movement across the border was reportedly restricted following the incident. GNF stated that the findings were based on survivor testimonies, meetings with district authorities, and field visits, and has called for an independent inquiry, accountability, humanitarian access during emergencies, and safeguards to protect civilians in border areas.
