Global Naga Forum (GNF) and Tening Students’ Union (TSU) have strongly condemned the killing of former president of Zeliangrong Baudi (AMN) Athuan Abonmai, who was reportedly abducted and killed on September 22.
GNF media cell described as “intolerable abomination” the abduction and murder of Athuan Abonmai.
The forum stated that the murder of “Athuan Abonmai and others like it debase our common humanity; they make animals of us all”.
“They dehumanize not just the victims, who are treated like animals, but the perpetrators too, who turn themselves into animals by acting with such wanton cruelty”, the forum stated.
Noting that Naga people’s long struggle for freedom and self-determination has experienced disagreements, divisions, and tragic enmities, the forum said it is time to start resolving the problems through non-violent negotiations and peaceful processes of healing.
Further, the forum conveyed condolences to the wife, children and family for the tragic loss and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
TSU: In a condemnation note, TSU president Ngauphutlakbo Nrak and general secretary Kewiphibangbo Kambutta expressed outraged and anguished over the murder.
The union expressed sadness and anger against such “abhorrent ferocity” committed against the victim in particular and the fellow citizens in general.
TSU appealed to the law enforcing agencies to promptly investigate the case without delay and award befitting punishment to the culprit (s). The union further conveyed condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed to the almighty to grant strength and solace to the family members to overcome the irreparable loss.
