Goa CM orders razing of all illegal clubs

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has ordered a crackdown on illegal constructions after the nightclub fire, directing officials to demolish all unlawful structures on salt pan land reports, India Today.
The Goa Tourism Department demolished Romeo Lane, an illegally constructed beach shack in Vagator linked to the Luthra brothers. The FIR accessed by India Today TV mentioned that the nightclub conducted a high-risk fire show without having any fire-fighting equipment.
There were no extinguishers, no sprinklers, no emergency alarms, and no smoke-extraction system.
The document also confirms that no fire audit was ever done before operations began, making the venue a major hazard.
The two main accused, Gaurav Luthra (44) and Saurabh Luthra (40), fled to Thailand soon after the incident. Goa Police have written to the Regional Passport Office requesting immediate cancellation of their passports to prevent further travel.
Police teams across states are attempting to track their movements. Goa DGP confirmed that a Blue Corner Notice was issued by Interpol against both Luthra brothers within two days of the tragedy.
Officials said such notices typically take over a week, and the rapid issuance reflects a coordinated effort between Goa Police and central agencies.
The Goa Tourism Department demolished Romeo Lane, a beach shack in Vagator illegally constructed by the Luthras on government land. CM Pramod Sawant has also instructed officials that not just birch by Romeo Lane but all the clubs and buildings constructed on the salt pan land be demolished, if illegal.
A Look Out Circular has been issued against two other owners of the nightclub, Ajay Gupta (from Gurugram) and Surinder Kumar Khosla, who is a British citizen.
The LOC prevents them from leaving India.
The move came hours after the Luthras’ escape to Thailand.
Police have arrested five key members of the nightclub’s management team as part of the widening investigation into the Birch by Romeo Lane tragedy. Those taken into custody include Corporate General Manager Rajiv Modak (49), General Manager Vivek Singh (27), Bar Manager Rajiv (Rajveer) Singhania (32), and Gate Manager Riyanshu (Priyanshu) Thakur (32). In addition, Bharat Kohli was detained in Delhi and subsequently brought to Goa for investigation.
All five accused have been remanded to six days of police custody as the probe continues to focus on operational lapses and managerial negligence at the nightclub.
