An annual Special National Integration Camp (SNIC) was formally inaugurated on January 6 at Patkai Christian College, Dimapur, by GOC 3 Corps, Lt. Gen. Bipen Rawat. Altogether, 600 NCC cadets and NCC officers from different parts of the country including 147 cadets from the North East region are attending the participating in the camp.
SNIC camps are organized annually at six different locations throughout the country with an objective to reach out to the people in remotest corners of the country.
Lt. Gen. Bipen Rawat, during his inaugural speech, informed the cadets that he himself was a NCC cadet in junior division which has been very helpful in shaping his career. He also brought out the challenges facing the nation adding that the country has a lot of faith in the youth in tackling the challenges ahead.
He said NCC cadets in camps like SNIC should use this as an opportunity to bring out the hidden talent and leadership qualities in each one of them. The chief guest also congratulated the cadets for the spectacular guard of honour presented to him and praised the cadets for the immense talent exhibited in the cultural extravaganza, showcasing unity in diversity and traditions of all parts of the county including that of Nagaland.
The aim of the camp is to foster a spirit of unity amongst the cadets, cutting across regional, religious, linguistic and cultural barriers, and provide them an opportunity to learn from each other`s culture and traditions. The camp would witness many activities during the days to come for the cadets. The camp would culminate on January 14.
