On the occasion of Army Day, GOC 3 Corps Lt. Gen. Bipin Rawat, has conveyed greetings and best wishes to all ranks of the army, Ex-Servicemen, civilians and their families.
Stating that army has always been a great source of inspiration and contributed immensely to the society’s development, the GOC said Army Day is special for all ranks adding they should feel proud of being soldiers of this great and glorious army. He said all ranks of Spear Corps have been working together with the civil administration and the people towards greater growth and prosperity in the North Eastern Region. He has expressed appreciation to the dedicated efforts of each soldier towards this noble cause.
Each year on January 15, Army Day is celebrated to mark the historic moment when General (Later Field Marshal) KM Cariappa became the first Indian Commander-in-Chief of the army in independent India in 1949. The Army’s efforts, to undertake infrastructure development projects and civic military actions have made a significant difference towards the overall growth of the region.
On the occasion, he has saluted the brave soldiers who have made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty and also urged the army to rededicate themselves to work tirelessly to hold the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country.
Meanwhile to commemorate the Army Day, a blood donation camp was organised at Rangapahar Military Station, Dimapur, on January 13 in collaboration with Indian Red Cross Society, Dimapur, under the aegis of Medical Branch, HQ 3 Corps.The event was inaugurated by Maj. Gen. Deepak Saxena, VSM, COS, HQ 3 Corps.
During the blood donation drive, 72 army personnel proudly donated blood. The missions were undertaken by the Army under military civic action on regular basis. The blood would be used by Indian Red Cross Society for the benefit of the local civil population.
