General Officer Commanding in Chief (GOC-in-C), Eastern Command, Lt. Gen. RP Kalita, visited the Spear Corps HQs in Dimapur on Wednesday. According to defence PRO, the GOC-in-C during the visit reviewed the operational preparedness of the formation and inaugurated a Computed Tomography (CT) Scan facility at the Military Hospital (MH) Rangapahar Military Station, which would benefit soldiers, families and civilians in providing critical health care.
GOC-in-C also inaugurated a state-of-the-art Basketball Court at Vidya Bhavan Higher Secondary School at Dimapur, constructed by the Indian Army under Operation Sadbhavna. The Army commander interacted with the students and teachers of the school.
Lt. Gen. RP Kalita dedicated the sports facility to the students and commended the effort of all involved in taking forward a shared vision of inculcating sports culture amongst the young generation.
He said that the Basketball court symbolized a teamwork that fostered discipline, resilience and the positive attitude of working together towards a common goal.
The Army commander encouraged the students to engage in sports wholeheartedly make the most by utilizing the sports facility. Meanwhile, GOC-in-C, would grace the Hornbill Festival at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama on December 7 as chief guest.
