
In order to eliminate corruption, Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) president, K Therie stated Congress party would project “God-fearing candidates” in the ensuing assembly elections for a “God-fearing government”.
According to a press statement by NPCC media cell, Therie was addressing party workers during NPCC district tour programme which covered Tobu, Tuensang, Kiphire, Phek and Pfütsero towns from September 22-27.
Therie also accused the Congress MLAs of joining NPF-led DAN government to create an opposition-less government and indulge in absolute corruption.
Claiming that districts across Nagaland have not seen any development since Congress government in the state, NPCC president slammed the present government for being unable to maintain the infrastructure created during the time of Congress.
Therie also claimed that the present MLAs do not believe that development and welfare would win votes rather money alone would win votes.
Stressing on the need for people to read and understand the election manifestoes of various political parties, he said reading the manifestoes and voting for the candidate representing such party which assure to best deliver the aspirations of the electorate.
NPCC president also deliberated on the need for clean election as initiated by NBCC. He also assured many developmental works during the tours if Congress was elected to power in Nagaland.
Speaking at Tuensang town, ex-MLA and NPCC, Vice President, Shami Angh, urged voters to consciously vote for the party which assure clean governance, development and welfare to the people.
He also highlighted the dangers of communalism and intolerance perpetrated by BJP against Christians and other minority communities across the nation.
NPCC general secretary, Jonathan Ao, also spoke on corrupt practices of NPF-led DAN government and said that the mandate of people had been betrayed with no developments.
Claiming that the state of affairs had gone from bad to worse, he called upon for a change from the habit of accepting gains for votes, to voting consciously.
NPCC general secretary, Capt. G.K. Zhimomi said that the real power lies with people and therefore urged them to refrain from selling their birthright during elections.
Others who addressed the public meetings were Ex-MLA and NPCC secretary, Shaboh Konyak, NPMCC president, N. Lucy and NPYC president, Vilhousielie Kengruse.
