Gogoi not bothered to solve border problem, says Zeliang

Nagaland chief minister T.R. Zeliang who also addressed the election rally at CCI Playground in Bokajan, accused Assam chief minister for his reluctance towards solving the Nagaland-Assam border issue.
Zeliang said Nagaland government had always wanted a peaceful and amicable settlement of the issue outside the court. But Assam chief minister, Tarun Gogoi was least interested and rejected for settlement outside the court, he said.
Affirming that Nagaland was always ready to extend help to its neighbours, Zeliang pointed out on the initiative taken by peace committees of the two states where “people to people contact” was being maintained in resolving the matter amicably.
Speaking about development of Bokajan constituency, Zeliang said, “We are from the same place. We have to focus on youth and development. For this, we need your help and we are also ready to help you. Since, we the people of the both the states are using same airport and railway connectivity we should not have any conflict.”
Impressing the people to realize the development activities undertaken by NDA under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, particularly for the Northeast region, Zeliang said Centre has already started implementing the “Act East Policy” instead of “Look East Policy”.
Under this, union ministers have been regularly visiting Northeast in order to address the problems and to make the region more advanced, Zeliang said.
Stating that most of the youths in the region were unemployed, Zeliang urged the gathering to support BJP in solving the issue. “By supporting BJP today, you are helping Modi”, he said.
Nagaland Home minister, Y. Patton also lambasted the Congress for failing to look into the welfare of the people of Karbi Anglong.
Urging the people not to repeat the same mistake, Y. Patton said, “you have elected a Rajya Sabha MP who was the Prime Minister for ten long years. But what has he done for your State? How many times did he even visit the State when he was the Prime Minister?” This, he questioned the people why should they vote for Congress?
Others who were present at the rally include– Minister for National Highways, Nuklutoshi; parliamentary secretaries, Mmhonlumo Kikon, Dr. Benjolingba, Jacob; Tovihoto Ayemi MLA; party workers from BJP and NPF Nagaland.
