Gov assesses developmental initiatives in Tamlu sub-division

Nagaland governor, La Ganesan, during his official visit to Tamlu subdivision under Longleng district on March 25, 2025, assessed developmental initiatives in various sectors and had interactive session with civil society organizations (CSOs).

According to a DIPR report, a brief programme was held at Multi Training Centre Tamlu attended by officials from Longleng district administration and Tamlu sub-divsion, heads of offices of various departments and civil society organisations (CSOs) of Tamlu headquarters.

Speaking at the programme, the governor commended the dedication of government officials and civil society members in fostering development in the region.

Ganesan said his visit was guided by two core objectives—to assess the developmental initiatives in sectors such as education, healthcare, agriculture, and infrastructure, to ensure they align with the needs of the people, and to listen to the concerns of the community, understand their challenges, and incorporate their aspirations into policy-making.

“My mission here is simple—to listen, learn, and collaborate. Development is a collective effort, and I am here to strengthen the bonds between the government, civil society, and every citizen,” the governor emphasized.

He acknowledged the challenges faced by various government departments, particularly in improving road connectivity, healthcare, education, and agriculture, and commended their efforts despite constraints. The governor also praised CSOs for their role in advocating for justice, bridging gaps, and empowering communities.

Ganesan urged the community leaders to foster peace through dialogue, mutual respect, and unity. He also called upon the youth to embrace good citizenship, respect for the law, and pride in their cultural heritage while contributing to communal welfare.

“Progress thrives where there is synergy. Our governments both at the centre and at the state endeavour to bring infrastructure, healthcare and economic opportunities to all its citizens. But without the cooperation of civil society these efforts remain incomplete,” he added. Governor urged upon all the CSOs to partner with the government.

The governor also engaged in an interactive session with CSOs and participants. Speaking on the event, B. Bangtick Phom, MLA, highlighted the progress achieved in Tamlu over the past two years under the leadership of chief minister Neiphiu Rio. He credited the “opposition-less government” for various developmental strides in the region.

MLA also raised pressing concerns, particularly the long-standing border disputes between Namsang villages and Assam’s Ahom community. He urged the governor to intervene on the issue of encroachment and the Ladigarh village dispute to ensure lasting peace and security for the people. MLA further sought the revival of key infrastructure projects in the region.

Other speakers at the event included, PPC president YB Angam Phom; W. Tingken Konyak, ‘K’ khel Tamlu Village; Namsang Citizen Union president Tongshauh and former president of PPC, P. Chingan Phom who shared their perspective on local issues.

Earlier in the day, the governor was accorded a warm welcome at the Tamlu public ground and received a guard of honour at the ADC office.

The health & family welfare department, public health engineering department and power department also presented their department activities undertaken in Tamlu subdivision. Later, a security coordinator meeting was held with the district administration and the police officials.

Governor La Ganesan concluded his visit by reiterating his commitment to ensuring development, peace, and prosperity for Tamlu and Longleng district.

The programme was chaired by ADC Tamlu, T. Lankonsen Tsanglao, who delivered the welcome address and gave an overview of the sub-division through a PowerPoint presentation.
