Governor of Nagaland La Ganesan graced the Onam Celebration organized by Malayali Samajan Kohima (MSK), which was held at the Heritage, Kohima on September 23.
Talking at the event as the chief guest, Governor Ganesan said that Onam brings all walks of people of different religion, caste and economic status under one roof which is the essence of Onam celebration. He stated that Keralites all over the world celebrate Onam with a spirit of oneness and equality. He also mentioned that there is no other festival in Kerala which is so widely accepted and secularly celebrated as Onam.
According to PRO Raj Bhavan, the Governor stated that the King Mahabali is the real idea of a ruler who looked after all his subjects with love and care, during his reign there was no folly, no lie, no cheating, but only love, joy, happiness and truth. He said that it is a moral for everyone who looks forward for Mahatma Gandhi’s idea of ‘Ram Rajya’ in the country.
The Governor appraised the gathering that leaving the beautiful state of Kerala, they all are in the state of Nagaland for a livelihood and also appreciated them for maintaining their tradition and customs with dedication, adaptability and togetherness.
He also congratulated the organizers and participants for the cultural events for their marvelous performances.
The program was attended by Development Commissioner, Nagaland R. Ramakhrishnan, principal director, school education, DC Wokha Ajit Renjan, Joint secretary IDEAN Reny Wilfred, Secretary IT Muhammad Shihap ali, DIG (CID) Dr. KPA IIyas (CID), OSD planning Nayanthara and others.
The significance of Onam was shared by the Vice president MSK Shaji K. The welcome address was delivered by the president MSK K.M Geevarghese while vote of thanks was delivered by Gen. Secretary MSK Shaji Paul.
