Nagaland governor, PB Acharya, and chief minister, Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu on Friday extended greetings to the Konyak community on the occasion of Aoling Monyu Festival, the main festival of the Konyaks, which is celebrated in the first week of April every year from April 1-6.
In his message, Acharya said Aoling Monyu, which celebrates the arrival of spring and prays for a good upcoming harvest, was a vibrant spring festival and of great cultural significance for the Konyaks.
On the occasion, the governor called upon the people to continue to safeguard and promote the rich culture and traditions through the festivals.
Acharya prayed that the festival of Aoling bring peace, unity and prosperity to the Konyaks in particular and Nagas in general.
CM: State chief minister, Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu, stated that the Aoling festival marks the end of a year and heralds the coming of a new agrarian year. He expressed happiness that this festival also showcased the rich cultural heritage.
In his message, the chief minister stressed on protecting and preserving “our culture” and also promoting them especially during the festivals. On the joyous celebration, he said “let us all aim to develop relationships between the government and the people, between people of various communities and bridge communication gaps, and at the same time, promote peace, culture and progress. Meanwhile, chief minister prayed to the Almighty for a successful and bountiful year and forge ahead with renewed vigor into the coming year.
CM greets Phom tribe
On the occasion of Monyiu festival, the chief minister, Dr Shürhozelie Liezietsu has wished the Phom community a happy and a successful Monyiu 2017 celebration.
In his message, Dr Shürhozelie mentioned that Monyiu marks the end of winter and the onset of spring. He said traditionally, Monyiu was also a time for jubilation, sharing of love and concern with relatives and friends. The chief minister expressed happiness that the Phom youngsters were making strong efforts to rediscover and preserve their rich cultural heritage. He said student unions of every Phom village were playing commendable role in this direction. He encouraged the Phom-Naga youngsters to continue to make every effort for the preservation and development of the rich cultural heritage.
