DIMAPUR, JUL 19 (NPN): Nagaland governor Nand Kishore Yadav, chief minister Neiphiu Rio, deputy CM Y. Patton, nine legislators from Mon district and others have expressed grief over the landslide tragedy in Mon district that claimed lives and caused extensive damage to property and infrastructure.
Gov: In a message, the Governor expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy and conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. He prayed for the eternal peace of the departed souls and wished a speedy recovery to those injured.
He also appreciated the efforts of the district administration, NSDMA, SDRF, Nagaland Police, Assam Rifles, medical personnel and all agencies engaged in the rescue and relief operations. The Governor appealed to the public to remain vigilant and follow official advisories, adding that his thoughts and prayers were with the people of Mon and all those affected by the adverse weather across the state.
CM: Rio said he was deeply distressed by reports of the landslides in Mon and conveyed his heartfelt condolences to those who lost their loved ones. He said the state government was closely monitoring the situation, while NSDMA, district administration, DDMA, SDRF, police, Assam Rifles and local communities were carrying out search and rescue operations.
Dy.CM: Patton said he was deeply saddened by the tragic landslides in Mon district and expressed his condolences to the bereaved families. He said the state government was closely monitoring the situation, with all concerned authorities coordinating search, rescue and relief efforts, and assured that every possible assistance would be extended to the people of Mon.
9 Mon MLAs: The nine legislators from Mon district also expressed profound grief over the devastating landslide triggered by incessant rainfall at Mon district headquarters.
In a statement issued by Advisor for Geology & Mining and DUDA, W. Chingang Konyak, on behalf of the legislators, they conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayed that Almighty grant eternal peace to the departed souls.
They also wished a speedy recovery to those injured in the tragedy.
The legislators also expressed sympathy with the families and communities affected by floods in Tizit village, Tizit town, Lapa Lampong and Naganimora, as well as landslides in Wakching Chingla and JNV Wakching, stating that they stood in solidarity with every family enduring loss, displacement and hardship caused by the natural calamities.
Assuring all affected families of their unwavering support, the MLAs said they would work closely with the state government and all concerned agencies to ensure timely relief, rehabilitation and assistance.
They also prayed that the ongoing search operations would successfully recover those still missing and bring solace to their families, while praying for the safety of all personnel engaged in rescue operations and strength and hope for those affected.
Taking to X, Paiwang expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and devastation caused by the incessant rainfall and landslide in Mon district. He assured the affected families of the state government’s full support in relief, rehabilitation and the ongoing search and rescue efforts, while conveying his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.
MPs: Lok Sabha MP Supongmeren Jamir expressed profound grief over the tragedy and conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families, while wishing a speedy recovery to the injured. He urged the people to remain vigilant, avoid landslide-prone areas and follow official safety advisories. Jamir also urged the state government to ensure adequate compensation and relief for affected families without delay.
He also expressed concern over the flood situation in Tuli and appealed to the authorities to extend immediate relief and rehabilitation assistance. He called upon the people of Tuli to stand together, support one another, and demonstrate the spirit of community during this difficult time.
Rajya Sabha MP, S. Phangnon Konyak expressed solidarity with all those affected by the landslides and floods across the state. She said nature’s fury had taken a toll on different parts of Nagaland and prayed that God would continue to watch over the people, granting them strength and safety as they stood united to overcome the challenging times.
NPF: NPF expressed profound grief over the loss of lives and widespread damage caused by flash floods and landslides across the state. It conveyed condolences to the bereaved families, especially those in Mon district, and expressed solidarity with the affected families in Tuli.
The party appreciated the district administrations, NSDMA, SDRF, police, Fire & Emergency Services, medical personnel, churches, civil society organisations and volunteers for their rescue and relief efforts, and appealed to the public to follow official advisories and cooperate with rescue teams.
