
Governor-designate of Nagaland, R.N. Ravi will arrive here on Wednesday before proceeding to Kohima. He will be accompanied by his wife and family members.
Ravi will be accorded a ‘general salute’ by the Nagaland Police personnel upon his arrival at 3rd Assam Rifles helipad in Kohima. He will be sworn in as governor at Durbar Hall, Raj Bhavan at 11 am on August 1, which will be followed by a reception. Gauhati High Court Chief Justice (Acting) Arup Kumar Goswami will administer oath to the Governor– designate.
Apart from being the governor of Nagaland, Ravi will continue to head the peace talks as Centre’s representative and interlocutor.
Before starting for the State, Ravi held a formal meeting with leaders of NSCN (I-M) led by its general secretary Th Muivah and an informal meeting with Working Committee (WC) of Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs) convener N Kitovi Zhimomi separately on July 26.
Born in 1952, Ravi, a 1976-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of Kerala cadre, retired as special director of Intelligence Bureau (IB) in 2012.
He rejoined the service and served as chairman of Joint Intelligence Committee between 2014 and 2018, before being appointed as deputy national security adviser to Prime Minister in October 2018. Prime Minister Narendra Modi chose him as the Government of India’s representative and interlocutor for Naga peace talks in 2014. After Ravi took over as interlocutor, the Framework Agreement was signed between the Centre and NSCN (I-M) on August 3, 2015, while another agreement was signed by New Delhi with WC, NNPGs on November 17, 2017.
