Nagaland governor La Ganesan graced the Ganapati Utsav & Padmabandhan inaugural ceremony at Biswamata Temple, Kolkata on September 18. The governor also graced the Ganesh Chaturthi at Bhayaharini Kali Mandir, Kolkata on the same day.
A report from PRO Raj Bhavan informed that the governor in his speech mentioned that Biswamata Temple held a special place in the hearts as it served as a symbol of spirituality, unity and devotion.
“It is within these sacred walls that we find solace, seek guidance and connect with the divine”, Ganesan said.
The governor also recalled how the Guruji Sri Samireshwar set up the Biswa Sevashram Sangha for the service of mankind.
He said it was heartening to know that “Thakur Shree Shree Samir Brahmachari Biswa Sevashram Sangha” a philanthropic multifarious social welfare and spiritual organization was engaged in various social, cultural and spiritual activities such as running a free primary school, charitable eye hospital and dispensary, free ambulance service, supporting the needy people by way of distribution of ration, clothes, blankets etc. regularly.
He lauded the organization for organizing yearly free medical camp at Gangasagar Mela, Kumva Mela as well as providing relief to the people affected by natural calamities.
The governor also narrated the story of Bishwa Sevshram-the brainchild of Guruiji Sri Samireshwar and said that Guruji saw in his spiritual perception that the Sangha can guide the minds of distressed people, serve the poor, the uncared and needy people.
He further said that in these chaoses, “their temple stands tall, offering sanctuary of peace and tranquility”. Calling for unity, the governor urged the citizens that everyone should not be defined by differences, but rather, should come together as one community of devotees.
The governor further congratulated the organisers for their initiatives in organizing the programme and wished them success this dream spiritual project.
Ganesan also thanked the founder president of Biswamata Temple and Bisa Sevashram Sanga Guruji Thakur Sri Samirreshwar ji, VP BSS Dr.Dhanpat Ram Agarwal, New Barrackpore Municipility Sri Prabir Saha, devotees and others for their presence and inviting him on the auspicious occasion.
Meanwhile, speaking at the “Ganesh Chaturthi”, the governor mentioned the several noble initiatives carried out by Bhayaharini Kali Mandir over the years, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic.
He appreciated the works that the temple has been actively engaged in relief work, medical camps, and various other initiatives to support the community.
He said that the temple not only worships the divine but also actively contributed to the well-being of the society. The governor also spoke on the significant of Ganesh Chaturthi, which was a time of celebration, joy, and unity. “It is a time to come together as a community, strengthen our bonds, and seek blessings from the divine”, he said. He therefore everyone to take a moment to appreciate the efforts rendered by the members of the temple.
