Gov graces Tsungremmong at Mangmetong

Nagaland governor, La Ganesan, graced the Tsungremmong festival celebration at Mangmetong village, Mokokchung on Wednesday accompanied by state deputy chief minister Y. Patton along with other legislators and officials.


Addressing the gathering, governor said that “we are able to celebrate such festival due to the peaceful atmosphere in our state” and called upon all to foster the spirit of unity and peace in the state. Ganesan also said that the essence and good practices of “our culture should be preserved and past down to future generation.”


Stating that in the past Nagaland had to struggle with issues that impeded peace and development, the governor, however, said that with peace returning people were witnessing development on all fronts. “Nagaland today is marching ahead with the rest of the country and our contribution in the field of Arts particularly in music is second to none as the Nagaland Chamber choir representing the country won accolades at the recently held World Choir Games,” Ganesan said. Extending his Tsungremong greetings, deputy chief minister Y. Patton acknowledged the Ao community’s substantial contributions across various spheres and urged the preservation of their legacies.


Short speeches were delivered by Imkong L Imchen, advisor IPR and Soil & Water Conservation and Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mokokchung, Thsuvise Phoji. Highlights of the celebration including traditional dance and music presentations that showcased the richness of Ao Naga cultural heritage.
