Nagaland governor, La Ganesan on August 25 held meeting with various civil society organisations at Zunheboto and deliberated on various issues including development faced by the district.
A DIPR report informed that the governor in his speech said that Zunheboto being in the geographical centre of Nagaland, peace and prosperity should radiate and emanate from it.
On the condition of the road, he informed the gathering that more road projects were in the pipeline in the coming days.
On educational sector, he called upon all schools and colleges to adopt the new education policy (NEP) as the principles of the NEP was to determine and nurture the child potentially, increase the child reading and numeracy knowledge and to improve the child’s creativity and logical thinking.
Reiterating that healthcare service was an important focus area and that quality healthcare should be accessible and affordable to all citizens, Ganesan highlighted on some of the government health related schemes in operation such as Aayushman Bharath, Pradhan Mantri Bima Yojana, Pradhanmantri Suraksha Bima Yojana and Chief Minister Health Insurance Schemes.
He urged the concerned departments to take the governments schemes to the door steps of the citizen so that the common citizens were benefited.
The governor also stressed on the importance and availability of safe and clean drinking water which was an important measure of human development.
He spoke on Jal Jeevan Mission undertaken by the central government to provide clean drinking water to every home and urged the PHE department to ensure that JJM scheme was implemented properly for the benefit of every citizen.
The governor also advised every eligible citizen to open a Jan Dhan account especially women in order to avail all banking facilities and requested the district lead banking authority to conduct financial literacy camps in order to create more banking and financial awareness.
Further, expressing concern on the drug abuse problem in the state especially among the youths, the governor requested the civil societies as well as the law enforcement agencies to go all out against drug abuse to stop the inflow of drugs in the States.
Earlier, the program was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Zunheboto Rahul Bhanudas Mali, who also highlighted the geographic features, various achievements and department’s works completed and ongoing works to the governor.
Short speeches were delivered by Sumi Hoho president and Sumi Kukami Hoho president where they also submitted a representation to the Governor.
In his short speech, advisor Food and Civil Supplies and Legal Metrology, K.T. Sukhalu, thanked the governor and requested his intervention in setting up of Nursing School at Zunheboto and up graduation of Khelhoshe polytechnic at Askhuto to Engineering College.
The advisor also informed the governor on setting up of Executive Engineer (Housing) in Zunheboto.
The governor also held a meeting with district HODs and a security co-ordination meeting.
