DIMAPUR, JUN 16 (NPN): Nagaland governor Nand Kishore Yadav on Tuesday launched the Census 2027 self-enumeration process in the state by completing his own enumeration at Lok Bhavan, Kohima, and called upon citizens to actively participate in the national exercise.
Participating in the self-enumeration phase, Yadav said Nagaland had joined the rest of the country in the census under the theme “My Census, My Development.”
He said citizens would, for the first time, be able to enumerate their households online during the self-enumeration period from June 16–30, 2026, marking a shift towards a citizen-centric and digitally enabled process.
The governor said Census 2027 was being conducted entirely in digital mode, making it more efficient, inclusive and accessible.
He added that the data generated would play a key role in development planning as India works towards the goal of Viksit Bharat 2047.
Yadav said census information would help governments frame evidence-based policies and improve delivery of services in education, healthcare, infrastructure and social welfare.
He appreciated the efforts of over 6,100 census officials deployed across Nagaland and urged them to discharge their duties with sincerity and integrity.
Calling for collective participation, he appealed to tribal hohos, community organisations, village councils, colony authorities and elders to extend full support for the successful conduct of the exercise.
“The census is not merely a count of people; it is a foundation for future planning and development,” the governor said, urging all citizens to ensure accurate enumeration of every household and individual.
Reiterating the census theme, Yadav called on citizens to contribute towards building a stronger and more developed future through active participation in the national exercise.
