Gov seeks stronger policing to protect women, children

DIMAPUR, JUN 20 (NPN): Nagaland governor Nand Kishore Yadav on Saturday expressed serious concern over the rising incidents of sexual assault against women, particularly minor girls, and directed the police to take swift and exemplary action.
According to a Lok Bhavan statement, the governor held a meeting with Director General of Police (DGP) Nagaland Rupin Sharma at Lok Bhavan and asked him to review the prevailing law and order situation and the measures being taken to address such crimes.
Yadav emphasised the need for greater vigilance, stronger preventive measures, and prompt investigation of all cases.
He also directed the police department to intensify efforts to curb crimes against women and children, strengthen monitoring mechanisms, and ensure timely support and justice for victims. The governor also called for increased public awareness and community participation in prevention.
DGP briefed the governor on the current situation, ongoing investigations, and steps being taken by the police to enhance the safety and security of women and children across the state.
The governor reiterated that crimes against women and children must be dealt with firmly to create a safe and secure environment for all citizens.
